2012 was supposed a pivotal year—the year of the apocalypse, the end of the world, etc. Thankfully, we’re all still here and instead of being the end of anything, we’re seeing some great inventions launch because of all the incredible technology we have at our fingertips.

Dear Re-String It!

Ugh. It happened again—the drawstring on my favorite Juicy Couture hoodie was eaten by the underwear gnomes! Okay, maybe I’m embellishing a little bit. But the point is, I needed a hoodie drawstring replacement pronto, because these fashion staples I live in are not inexpensive. Dear Re-String It!

Wow, I wish I’d found you sooner, but I’m so glad that I have now. A few months ago, I was heading off to New York to meet my fiancee’s parents. The guys took me out the night before as a send off, and things got a little crazy. The next thing I know, I’m waking up extremely late for my flight.

I made the mad dash to the airport in the sweats that I slept it. Too bad I didn’t realize that I’d forgotten to buy a sweatpants drawstring replacement for them to keep them from falling down! I checked in online from my phone in the taxi on the way to the airport, so thought I was all good. Then, as I ran through the airport, heading straight for TSA, I suddenly felt a cool breeze on my legs. I looked down a little too late and realized that my pants were down at my ankles. Two seconds later, I tripped and fell flat on my face, pants down and all. Forget about the embarrassment I felt—two TSA officers surrounded me, helped me to my feet and escorted me to secondary security check.

I smelled a little hungover, so they thought I was trying to travel intoxicated. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get on my flight and had to reschedule the oh-so-important meeting of the parents. Had I went to a clothing repair shop and gotten myself a replacement for that evil sweatpants drawstring, I probably wouldn’t have been in that mess. What’s your restringing story?

Ever had an embarrassing experience that a little restringing tool might have saved you from? Unfortunately, I had my own recently, and it definitely motivated me to finally research what products were out there that could show me how to fix my drawstring. It was one of those days that I just didn’t feel like going to my workout class, but I forced myself anyway.
